This is a documentary called Earthlings by Shaun Monson which was recommended to me by a friend. I know animal cruelty is nothing new for any of us. I’ve heard all the disturbing news stories; I’ve read countless essays on the inhumane treatment of animals for my philosophy course, and I’ve even seen a few horrible short videos on Chinese fur farms and such, but I don’t think any of that has hit me quite as hard as this documentary did. It’s a gruesome and sickening movie, but I think everyone needs to watch this and know what happens to our food before we see it all neatly packaged at the market. I’m not a vegan, and I’m still not after watching this film, but it’s at least gotten me thinking about the terrible things that goes on behind closed doors and what small contributions I can make towards this problem. And that’s spreading the word. So watch it y’all!
